Consigned from an important London private collection, two examples of Imperial Chinese Porcelain made during the reign of the period of the Kangxi Emperor have sold at Wimbledon Auctions on the 8th September, as part of our Fine Art and Antiques Auction.
Lot 1, is a Chinese Famille Verte Porcelain Month Cup, Kangxi Mark and of the period (1662-1722).
The Imperial wine cup, painted with flowering apricot and a poem that can be translated 'The Fragrance (of the flowers) mingles with the scent of evening rain. Their lovely colour is enhanced by the sunshine or mist'.
The base with Kangxi mark and of the period.

Lot 2, is a Chinese porcelain dragon and phoenix bowl, Kangxi mark and of the period (1662-1722).
The Imperial bowl painted in the famille-verte palette on the exterior with dragons and phoenix amongst flowers and foliage. The interior with a dragon chasing a flaming pearl. Six character Chinese mark and of the period.

Purchased on the 5th May 1960 from William Clayton Limited, 38 Bury Street, St. James's, London, SW1. Receipt read as follows:
'One very fine small imperial famille verte bowl decorated with a dragon chasing a flaming pearl, K'ang Hsi seal mark and period, special price, £95--'.
